Planning for the Bay City Children’s Dyslexia Center began in 1998. In December of 2000, tutoring began with 3 fully trained tutors and 5 students. Since then, over 250 students have successfully graduated the program and 75 tutors have been professionally trained to work with students with dyslexia.
Using a multi-sensory, sequential, systematic approach, students work with language at a pace that suits their individual learning needs. Beginning with the simple concepts of the English language and building on each success, students work through to the most complex concepts. All students meet with success and build on what each of them know individually.
The earlier a child is diagnosed and receives tutoring services, the less frustration is faced in school. The Children’s Dyslexia Center provides FREE tutoring for students from kindergarten through 12th grade.
